Video games (wonder in wander).
I titled the image I made below as “Playstation: deluxe classic edition with unlimited bonus levels.”

Unlimited until bedtime, at least.
What do you do at a place? At a river? That is a defining and fundamental query for so much: what do you do there?
For example, if you go to Disneyland, then you know to do there. The question becomes: what rides and attractions did you do? I think that’s the case, anyway.
If you go to a river and you’re hauling jet skis or a boat, then the questions might be more specific: Did you wakeboard? Go fishing? Pull innertubes?
But for us, for Becca and I, so much of what we have done, is to go somewhere and…walk. Or get in the water. Or just wander in wonder. We are not particularly accomplished at any recreational aspect of “doing nature” or “being outside.” We don’t have great gear or brand name equipment or expecially good apparel or accessories.
We are good, however, at simply finding places to play. Or, to reduce even further, at finding places to be. Places to engage with each other and with nature.
Sometimes, there is more than one winner.
*until bedtime

And the sky was blue.
This is life. This is living.
Sometimes the joy is being immersed in something.
Sometimes the joy is observing something beautiful.
Sometimes you dance between the two.
To be on a river,
to be in the mountains,
to be on the sea, by the sea,
to hear the ocean,
the sound of moving water
and the voices of play splashing along harmonious rainbow currents…
this is living.
This is life. And this is a reason to practice gratitude and generosity of spirit; two things the mothers of these children do well.
