The creatures, there are a quartet (a poem in a minor scale).

We have enjoyed a glorious time exploring the words and ideas of Emily Dickinson, Shel Silverstein, and William Carlos Williams. As a quick exercise we all gonged out quatrains about our afternoon. Here’s mine.

If I was the teacher

If it was up to me, people,
I would have had three lunches
Recess would go all morning long
Students would play fun games.

There would be no homework ever.
We’d watch a film or two.
If only I was the teacher.
Oh wait…I guess I am.

The creatures, they are a quartet

Usually I like odd numbers most
but I like four because

the creatures, there are a quartet;
they scream and sing and play.

A note is missing with just three.
Kids ain’t cheap, most h’aint free.

A billion bucks apiece I’d spend
to keep each one always.
