Preface

The above image is intended to be a sort of ironic counterpoint to the items below. I call the above image “Tranquility.”

It would probably look amazing hanging in an office complex with the words “TRANQUILITY” printed across it to make sure people understand that it represents tranquility. Anyway, please continue reading.

Prologue

A shared chuckle we say to each other several times a week, looking at each other with fatigue sometimes cheerful and fatigue sometimes exasperated and fatigue sometimes unnamed:

“Do you ever feel tired?”

The clock strikes loud.

[ moments with small children taking place between the hours of 11pm and 6am ]

  1. A two-year old boy up at 11pm to play cars with me in the kitchen while Becca and I try to watch Only Murders in the Building. This was recommended by Jeremy and has been a serialized comedic delight.

  2. Boys in bed, kicking off covers, wanting to FaceTime grandmas at 6am.

  3. A 4-year old wanting to go outside at 6am to listen for coyotes.

  4. Three boys waiting outside the bathroom for Becca to get out of the shower so they can tell her everything she didn’t know she needed to know about coyotes.

  5. Hungarian Rhapsody by Johannes Brahms. At 5.59am. Here we go.

Epilogue

Now for the rest of the day
